Agile Process and Impact on hiring

Recently while driving to a customer’s place, I had a discussion with one of my colleague regarding the agile process and its impact on hiring.  After the discussion it is becoming clear that, indeed there is a relation between hiring good people and the software process.

Take for example, it becomes very important to hire good people with hands on experience while hiring for an agile project. The reason being, in agile projects the developers are expected to start delivering the small chunks of the application in 2-3 weeks duration (iterations), and the person getting on to the project needs to have quick learning ability and hands on experience.

But in a traditional development method, where the product release is done once in 6 months or so, the new hire would have enough breathing time to get acquainted with the process and technology.
